The J. C. Zimny Rod Company

"Quality without compromise"

  • Select, seasoned tonkin cane is split, straightened and precision milled into eighteen triangular strips. The strips are glued, bound and left in the lagering room for thirty days.

  •   Reel seats are fabricated by hand in our shop using hardwoods from around the world. The metal work is executed in alloy 752, full-hard German silver.

  • Swiss, Spigot, or Square design ferrules of precision drawn nickel-silver tubing are hand lapped and polished on our lathes.

  • Guides are wound with the finest silk. Windings are then delicately tipped with silk of the finest denier available.

  • Rod shafts and windings are finished with multiple coats of hand-rubbed spar varnish.

  • Each rod is placed in its own custom-made, cloth bag and black, brass capped, aluminum tube.
